Florissant Police Department

Colonel Timothy J. Lowery was appointed to the position of Chief of Police on January 1, 2013 by Mayor Thomas P. Schneider. He has served the City of Florissant for the past 25 years.

Chief Lowery was born in the city of St. Louis and was raised in the City of Florissant and is a graduate of Hazelwood Central High School. He has been married to his wife Laurie for 27 years and they have a son, Bryan. Chief Lowery has both a Bachelor’s and a Master’s Degree in Management from Lindenwood University. In addition, he has an associate’s degree in Criminal Justice from Florissant Valley Community College. In 2008, he graduated from the F.B.I. National Academy in Quantico Virginia.

Chief Lowery began his law enforcement career in 1985 as a member of the St. Louis County Police Department. Upon graduation from the Greater St. Louis Police Academy he was assigned to the Northwest Precinct and later served as an investigator in Bureau of Crimes against Persons. He joined the Florissant Police Department in 1989, as a Patrolman. He has been assigned to every bureau of the police department. In 1999 he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and was assigned to the Bureau of Field Operations and would later serve as a supervisor in the Bureau of Investigations. In 2005, he was promoted to the rank of Lieutenant and was assigned as the Commander of Criminal Investigations. In 2009, he was promoted to the rank of Captain and has served as both the commander of Criminal Investigations and Field Operations. In 2012,   he was promoted to Major (Assistant Chief of Police) and overseen the daily operation of the department. In addition, He served as Chief Deputy Commander of the Greater St. Louis Major Case Squad.

Chief Lowery is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, Missouri Police Chiefs Association, St. Louis Area Police Chiefs Association, Law Enforcement Officials of Greater St. Louis, North County Police Chief’s Association, F.B.I National Academy Associates, and the International Homicide Investigators Association. He serves on the Executive Board for the Greater St. Louis Major Case Squad as the Treasurer.
