Florissant, Missouri has a diverse population of over 52,000 residents who live in a 14 square mile community located along the Missouri River in north St. Louis County. The " Valley of Flowers" has a proud history and a bright future. The city of Florissant is consistently among the safest cities of its size. This is made possible by citizen involvement and a strong Community Policing Program.

The Florissant Police Department is staffed by 95 sworn officers and a civilian support staff of 27. The department is housed in a modern headquarters with state of the art equipment including Enhanced 911, Computer-Aided-Dispatch, Global Positioning Satellite equipped patrol cars, and report dictation and management systems.

The Florissant Police Department periodically has openings for positions throughout the agency.
The minimum qualifications for Police Officer include:

  • Citizenship of the United States upon application, and;
  • No felony or serious misdemeanor convictions, and;
  • At least 21 years of age at time of appointment, and;
  • High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalency.  Associate Degree or minimum of 64 hours of college preferred, and;
  • Current Missouri P.O.S.T. Class A license or successful completion of a police recruit training program at any Missouri P.O.S.T. approved training facility and the ability to immediately obtain a Class A Peace Officers License issued by the Missouri P.O.S.T. Commission.
