"Safety Town" is a nationally recognized preschool safety program designed for 4, 5, and 6-year old children, to help them learn important safety related practices. Topics such as walking safety, bicycle / tricycle safety, school bus and playground safety, stranger danger, and tool and toy safety are covered.  The children learn about safety issues through classroom interaction, as well as through interactive play in a miniature town, complete with buildings, stop signs, electric signals, streets and crosswalks.  Each session is conducted for two consecutive weeks, Monday through Friday, for two hours per day.  Both morning and afternoon sessions were conducted with approximately 130 toddlers in attendance. Two police officers and approximately 20 student volunteers from local junior and senior high schools conduct the classes.
