IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE Live Radio Drama

From Immediate Theatre Project, NC

itslife
DECEMBER - 17  8:00 PM
It's Christmas Eve in 1945, and only a handful of WVL Radio's actors have braved the blizzard to perform that evening's broadcast of It's a Wonderful Life and keep the station afloat.  This clever stage adaptation breathes new life into the poignant story of George Bailey and Bedford Falls. When Frank Capra and his co-writers were working on the original screenplay of It's a Wonderful Life, the Great Depression was a vivid memory. The story of George Bailey and Bedford Falls is juxtaposed against a time of failing banks, devastatingly high unemployment and a shortage of affordable housing. The circumstances are eerily familiar, and over 60 years later, this story remains as fresh and relevant as ever. Its message of hope and optimism is the perfect antidote to holiday cynicism.

ADMISSION:

$28.00 Adults; $26.00 Seniors/Students          Group rates available

JANUARY

Hawthorne Players Audition Notice:

Love Letters

love letters

January 8 - 6:00 PM

Hawthorne Players announce open auditions for A.R Gurney's Love Letters to be held in the Florissant Civic Center Theatre on Sunday, January 8, 2017 beginning at 6:00 p.m. The play is a unique and imaginative theatre piece which, in the words of the author, "needs no lengthy rehearsal, no special set, no memorization of lines.  It is designed simply to be read aloud by an actor and an actress of roughly the same age, sitting side by side at a table."

The piece is comprised of letters exchanged over 50 years between two people who grew up together, went their separate ways, but continued to share confidences. As the actors read the letters aloud, what is created is an evocative, touching, frequently funny but always telling pair of character studies in which what is implied is as revealing and meaningful as what is actually written down.

PUMP BOYS & DINETTES

From Troupe America
pb
JANUARY - 29  2:00 PM
Drive a ways outta town, somewhere between Frog Level and Smyrna, North Carolina and you'll come to a filling station run by L.M. and Jim. Across the blacktop is the Double Cupp Diner, operated by Rhetta and Prudie Cupp. To look at it, you wouldn't know that this little stop on Highway 57 is where all the action is, but trust us - once the boys get that guitar and bass fiddle revved up, you won't want to be anywhere else. Pump Boys and Dinettes is a countrified musical packed with highly entertaining toe-tappers such as Drinkin' Shoes, Farmer Tan and The Night Dolly Parton Was Almost Mine!

ADMISSION:

$28.00 Adults; $26.00 Seniors/Students          Group rates available
