The book by William F. Brown follows Baum’s classic fantasy: a tornado rips Dorothy from her Kansas home and drops her in OZ squarely on the Wicked Witch of the East in the midst of Munchkinland.  The beloved score by Charlie Smalls includes hits like “Ease on Down the Road,” “Brand New Day,” “Believe in Yourself” and “Home.”  This production will feature students from all 23 schools in the district!

MARCH 19 - 2:00 PM

It has been more than half a century since To Kill A Mockingbird was first published, but Harper Lee's story of racial tension and childhood interrupted by the ugly confusions of the adult world has not lost its power to captivate! It is 1935. Scout, a young girl living in the tired old town of Maycomb, Alabama, is about to experience a summer that will affect the rest of her life. Scout lives with her brother Jem, their widowed father Atticus - a lawyer - and their housekeeper Calpurnia. Atticus has been appointed to defend Tom Robinson, a black man who has been accused of assaulting a young white woman. Through courage and compassion, Atticus seeks justice for Tom while his feisty daughter's eyes are opened to the cold-hearted adult side of her community. This is a story as moving and magical as you could ever hope to find.

HAWTHORNE PLAYERS PRESENT:

Love Letters

ll

MARCH  31 - 7:30 PM

APRIL  1, 7 and 8 - 7:30 PM

APRIL 2 and 9 - 2:00 PM

The play is a unique and imaginative theatre piece which, in the words of the author, "needs no lengthy rehearsal, no special set, no memorization of lines.  It is designed simply to be read aloud by an actor and an actress of roughly the same age, sitting side by side at a table."

The piece is comprised of letters exchanged over 50 years between two people who grew up together, went their separate ways, but continued to share confidences. As the actors read the letters aloud, what is created is an evocative, touching, frequently funny but always telling pair of character studies in which what is implied is as revealing and meaningful as what is actually written down.

ADMISSION:

$18.00 Adults; $16.00 Seniors/Students          Group rates available
