Harold

** St. Louis Family Theatre Series Presents: THE ADVENTURES OF HAROLD AND THE PURPLE CRAYON

From Enchantment Theatre Company, Philadelphia, PA

Mar. 8 – 2:00 p.m.    Mar. 13 – 7:30 p.m.    Mar. 14 – 2:00 p.m.

“One evening, after thinking it over for some time, Harold decides to go for a walk in the moonlight.” So begins Harold and the Purple Crayon, the first of seven delightful picture books by Crockett Johnson that follow the zany adventures of an inventive young boy. As it turns out, there isn’t any moon that night nor is there a path to walk on, so Harold simply draws them. And thus his journey begins. Resourceful and brave, Harold creates the world he wants to explore, using nothing more than a big purple crayon and his sky’s-the-limit imagination.

ADMISSION:  $7.00 to all.  Group rates available

Mar. 28 – 8:00 p.m.    Mar. 29 – 2:00 p.m.

Take a dash of dreams, a pinch of deceit, a cup of old fashioned romance and a dollop of laughter: stir it together and pack it into a small perfume shop in 1937 and you have this new 2009 adaptation of Miklos Laszlo’s Parfumerie.  Parfumerie is a heart-warming romantic comedy that follows the tangled tale of George Horvath, a long-time employee of Hammerschmidt’s Parfumerie.  Days before Christmas, Mr. Hammerschmidt fires George after mistakenly suspecting George of having an affair with his wife.  To make matters worse, George’s only hope for a happy life away from the shop goes awry when he discovers that the stranger he has fallen in love with through a secret correspondence, is none other than Amalia Balash, a co-worker with whom he constantly fights.  For the employees of the Parfumerie, wisdom, honesty and compassion for one another can’t help but lead to a happy ending.
