2020 Ameren Sustainability Report

While much has changed in the world over the last several months, some things remain the same at Ameren. One of those is our unwavering commitment to our customers, the communities we serve and the environment.

We have just published our interactive 2020 Ameren Sustainability Report, which highlights the many ways we are delivering on these commitments, including:

  • Addressing significant immediate and long-term needs of our communities, which include wide-ranging support during the COVID-19 pandemic as well as ongoing energy assistance support, philanthropy and apprenticeships.
  • Supporting the local economy, including spending $1.5 billion with Missouri and Illinois suppliers.
  • Plans to significantly increase clean, renewable energy into our generation portfolio while reducing carbon and other greenhouse gas emissions.
  • Improving reliability by investing in rate-regulated energy infrastructure while at the same time, keeping electric rates more stable for customers.
  • Actions we have taken to enhance our robust risk management and governance with respect to environmental, social and governance (ESG) matters.

I encourage you to browse our Report Summary or the full 2020 Sustainability Report to learn more about Ameren’s initiatives.

Smart Energy Plan - Home run for Ameren Missouri team at Ballpark Village

Ballpark Village sits silent amidst an empty downtown St. Louis. But nearby, cheers fill the air from Ameren Missouri's Underground Division. One of Ameren's core values is commitment to excellence, said Darnell Sanders, head of Missouri's Underground team. It's about bringing your best every day and this team is doing just that. Since the first of the year, more than 55 Smart Energy Plan projects have been completed downtown. Last month, Phase 2 of the Downtown East/Ballpark Village project was put onto our project list.

After working in one of the highest profile areas in the city, we kept our perfect record intact. No complaints or upset customers, said Tyler Clarke, engineer, Underground Division, Ameren Missouri. Clarke credits a strong focus on communications as the key to their winning record. To keep pace with future demands, new conduit and duct banks were installed around Ballpark Village providing more energy pathways to ensure the lights stay on in the event of a problem.

Completing this project on time and within scope and budget was a major win for this team and we are showing no signs of slowing down due to COVID-19, explained Clarke. We've had outstanding and safe work from our entire lineup; Ameren Missouri's construction supervision, our crews and contractor services. They bring a commitment to excellence every day for our customers even during a national pandemic.

On deck for the remainder of 2020, more than 200 additional Smart Energy Plan projects to improve reliability for downtown customers. That's the most projects ever completed in downtown St. Louis in a single year by Ameren Missouri. Now that's a winner.
