Chief William Karabas of the Florissant Police Department announced that Florissant Police Officers would again coordinate and participate in the St. Louis Area Police Chiefs Association 2007 St. Louis Cardinals Baseball Card Program. The program has been sponsored by the Kansas City Life Insurance Company for the past 17 years. 

More than six million St. Louis Cardinal Collector Baseball Cards have been distributed by municipal and county officers representing the City of St. Louis, St. Louis County, Jefferson County, St. Charles County and Lincoln County Missouri, along with the Illinois counties of Madison County, Bond County and St. Clair County.  The purpose of the program is to give police an ongoing opportunity to interact with young people in a positive way. Police Officers from the bi-state area would also like to add a heart felt “Congratulations to the World Champion St. Louis Cardinals. It was a great show and we look forward to the 2007 season!”

Kansas City Life Insurance Company President and Chairman of the Board, R. Philip Bixby said, "We are extremely proud to sponsor a program which actively promotes valuable interaction between young people and police officers. In this 17th year, it is our hope the baseball cards will be a catalyst to enhance relations between young fans and law enforcement personnel."

Officers from over one hundred and thirty law enforcement agencies will distribute the cards throughout the 2007 baseball season. The front of the card features an action photo of a St. Louis Cardinal Player.  The reverse side includes player information, plus an illustration and a quote from the featured player about crime, drugs, or safety. 

Chief Karabas stated, "The 2007 Baseball Card Program provides police officers with an excellent way to have a positive contact with young people today, and helps officers develop lasting friendships".
