Disability Awareness Commission

TERM OF OFFICE: Three (3) years
MEMBERS: Nine (9) citizens

Sec. 2-161. Established, membership, terms. There is hereby established a Florissant Disability Awareness Commission of the city, which shall consist of nine (9) persons, residents of the city, who shall be appointed by the mayor, with the approval of the council. The terms of such members shall be three (3) years.  Members shall serve until their successors have been duly appointed and qualified.
Sec. 2-162. Duties generally, annual report required. It shall be the duty of the Florissant Disability Awareness Commission to coordinate all programs conducted by the City for citizens with disabilities and to make recommendations to the Mayor and Council concerning any programs or changes in existing programs as it deems appropriate for the citizens of the City who have disabilities. The Commission shall make an annual report to the Mayor and City Council concerning its activities.
Sec. 2-163. Organization. The Florissant Disability Awareness Commission shall elect its own chairman and vice-chairman, who shall serve one-year terms. The commission may adopt from time to time such rules and regulations as it deems necessary to carry into effect its responsibilities.

E Sight Career Network - http://www.esight.org/
E Sight is an online career network connecting people with disabilities to business leaders. This site also has tons of resources for people with disabilities seeking employment, including: online readings and suggestions, avoiding discrimination, etc. It also has great resources for employers including: how to break disability barriers, how to avoid "over-protecting" a person with a disability, legal issues, etc. It also has weekly forums and disability friendly companies. This is a site that is geared toward CAREERS instead of just jobs. There is a sign-in process, but registering and signing in is free. It allows you to maintain some preferences and employment-related items with your password. http://www.esight.org/
