Frequently Asked Questions
Office Hours - The Purchasing Department, located in City Hall at 955 rue St. Francois, and is open from 8a.m. to 5p.m., Monday through Friday, except for observed holidays.
Can bids be faxed? - No, all bids MUST be hand delivered or mailed in a sealed envelope clearly displaying the bid number and the time and date of the bid opening.
When are bids due? - The bid documents will always state the date that the bid is due. All bids need to be hand delivered or mailed to the Purchasing Department and clocked in on or before 1:59pm. It is the responsibility of the bidder to insure delivery of their bid to the Purchasing Department prior to stated time of opening. No bids will be accepted once the bid opening has begun or those clocked in after 1:59p.m.
Tax Exempt Status - Do not include Federal Excise Tax or Sales and Use Taxes in bid prices, as the City is exempt from them by law. You may request our letter of exemption by calling the Purchasing office at (314) 839-7621.
Are bid openings public? - Yes, all bids are opened and read aloud in the Purchasing Department Conference Room on the date of the opening at 2:00p.m. No decision of award is made during the bid opening. Bids are read aloud, copied and forwarded to the department director for decision.
