“Florissant Offers C.E.R.T. Training Class”

The Florissant Police Department will host another C.E.R.T. training course beginning Wednesday, April 8th, 2009. C.E.R.T. is an acronym that stands for Community Emergency Response Team.   Participants will meet one day a week for six weeks.  Class times will be from 6:30 P.M. till 10:00 P.M.
The goal is for citizens to be trained in basic response skills. C.E.R.T. members are then integrated into the emergency capability for their area.

Under the guidelines of the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and using the model created by the Los Angeles City Fire Department, C.E.R.T.’s have been established in hundreds of communities.

If a disastrous event overwhelms or delays the community’s professional response, C.E.R.T. members can assist others by applying the basic response and organizational skills that they learned during training. These skills can help save and sustain lives following a disaster until help arrives. C.E.R.T. skills also apply to daily emergencies.

The Police Department is currently accepting reservations for this C.E.R.T. class.  For more information on this training, contact Sgt. Kevin Boschert at the Florissant Police Department at 314-830-6042 or you may download an application from our website at, www.florissantmo.com/police.  Completed applications can be dropped off or mailed to:
