RULES FOR USING THE FLORISSANT BUSSES
In-Town Trips

The F.L.E.R.T. Bus is available to all Florissant Senior residents, 60 years of age and older with a current Resident Picture I.D., designating they are a Florissant Senior Resident.
The HANDICAP Bus is available to Senior residents, and to individuals 18 years of age and older. A competent adult, who has legal guardianship, must accompany individuals under 18 years of age. Those who are not Senior residents should make a written request to the Mayor for his approval, including a letter from their doctor stating the disability and the need for the use of the Handicap bus. This request should state their name, address, phone number and current Resident card number. Senior residents need only to make their reservations through the F.L.E.R.T. Bus company at 839-1776. The bus driver will give assistance as needed, to wheelchair passengers, getting on and off the bus, however they must be able to power their wheelchair on and off the lift.
Appointments for both busses may be scheduled Monday through Friday, from 8:30 am until 12:30 pm by calling 839-1776. Weekend, Holiday and Monday appointments, are made on Friday. The after-hours answering machine is for messages only, such as cancellations, and is not used to schedule appointments. The Busses begin picking up passengers Monday through Fridays, at 8:00 am with last pick-up at 3:30 pm. On Saturdays, the bus is available from 8:30 am until 1:00 pm. For scheduled Church services on Sunday, please contact the bus company at 839-1776. All passengers are required to be ready 10 minutes prior to the scheduled time of arrival.
Users of the F.L.E.R.T. Bus and the Handicap Bus may call one day in advance to make reservations for any appointment, other than a medical appointment or a City sponsored event. These events such as tax appointments, parties, dances, etc., may be called in up to five working days in advance. Medical appointments are accepted three to five working days in advance, to insure pick-up.
Those requiring the Wheelchair lift may call three to five working days in advance for any appointment.
On Thursday and Friday mornings, one bus will be designated strictly for Grocery shopping. On Thursday mornings, those living on the West side of Florissant Road will go to the Dierbergs and Schnucks on Lindbergh. On Friday mornings, the bus will go to the Schnucks in the Grandview shopping area, for those on the East side of Florissant Road. However, a rider may request to go to any Grocery store within the City Limits, as long as appointments are available. (Usually, afternoon appointments are more accessible) There is a three (3)-bag limit of groceries per person. The drivers will assist carrying the groceries to the door.

Out-of-Town Trips
REVISED FLORISSANT SENIOR BUS RESERVATION POLICY AS OF JANUARY 2006
All Bus riders must be a Florissant Senior Resident 60 years of age or older, with a current Florissant Senior Resident Picture ID, and an emergency contact name and number.
Each group will be allowed six (6) non-residents, as long as they are members of the group requesting the trip, and pay an additional fee of $2.00.
All riders must be able to get on and off the bus without assistance. Wheelchair accessibility is not available on the busses used for trips.
Organizations are limited to three (3) trips each month.
Trips cannot be scheduled in the same month of the request. Reservations must be made by the 25th of the previous month of the trip, and may not be changed to a different location or event. Drivers are also instructed to go only to the exact destination that is listed on the approved request form. Trips are limited to six (6) hours.
Minimum group of twenty (20) is required. Maximum number of group is twenty-five (25).
There will be a $50.00 charge for the use of each bus. One week in advance of the trip, the organization requesting the trip, must submit a legible list of participants to the Health Department. (The Health Dept. is located at St. Ferdinand Park). All current Resident card numbers, emergency contact information and a check for $50.00 made payable to the City of Florissant, must accompany this list. If the complete list and check are not received at least one week prior to the trip, NO Bus will be available. The additional $2.00 charge for each non-resident is also due at this time.
All trips are limited to the approved area of the map shown below, which are within a 50-mile radius of the City of Florissant.
Please notify the Senior office at 839-7605 or 839-7604 if you must cancel the reservation as soon as possible.
The City reserves the right to cancel and/or reschedule trips as extenuating circumstances dictate.
