Common Code Violations |
Interior
Deteriorated or leaking main/kitchen and drain piping plumbing
Light fixture covers broken or missing
Switches/outlets not grounded or have broken cover plates
Inoperable/missing smoke detectors- generally one required on the basement level, near steps and one in the hallway adjacent to the bedrooms.
Handrails/guardrails on stairways - 5 steps or 30" or more above ground level.
Leaking faucets/fixtures and drain piping
Damaged floors, walls, cabinets, ceilings, etc.
Absence of ½" drywall and/or solid wood or metal door between the house/room add and garage. No opening in this wall.
Rooms above a lower level garage require 5/8" fire rated drywall on ceilings with no openings or penetrations.
Bathrooms without an operable window/exhaust fan or an electric outlet.
Bathrooms which are not vented per Plumbing Code
Broken or missing door hardware
Worn or frayed /damaged electric cable or overloaded electrical panel.
Garage door openers supplied by extension cords, adapters or plugged into light fixtures. |
Exterior
Overgrown shrubs and trees
Water heaters, Furnace/AC without a permit
Structures without permits
Fence and gates damaged/missing boards/leaning or installed backward.
Concrete cracks or displacement -sidewalk, drive, patio
Cracked, peeling paint, roof trim, windows, etc.
Broken or cracked windows |
