Judge Gaertner was appointed to the Circuit Court Bench on July 14, 2000.
Judge Gaertner was an Associate at the Law Firm of Bryan Cave and later became a State Prosecutor with the Circuit Attorney’s Office of Saint Louis City.
In 1995, Judge Gaertner was appointed an Assistant Federal Prosecutor with the United States Attorney Office of the Eastern District of Missouri. There he served as Chair of the United States Department of Justice Insurance Fraud Task Force.
Judge Gaertner received his Bachelor of Science degree in Economics, Magna Cum Laude, from Saint Louis University School of Business. He also received his Juris Doctorate degree, Cum Laude, from Saint Louis University School of Law.
Judge Gaertner is a member of the Saint Louis County Bar Association, the Bar Association of Metropolitan Saint Louis and the Illinois Bar Association. He is also a member of The Missouri Bar and serves on their Legislative Committee.
In 1999, Judge Gaertner received the John C. Shepherd Professionalism Award from the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis.
Judge Gaertner serves on the Board of Directors for Boys & Girls Town of Missouri and The Crusade Against Crime. He is avid supporter of The Backstoppers Organization and a devout Catholic.
Judge Gaertner and his wife have four children and reside in St. Louis County.
