Sheriff Oliver “Glen” Boyer is a 34 year veteran of Law Enforcement and began his career in 1974 with the Missouri State Highway Patrol as a Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Officer. He later served as a patrol office for the City of Festus until 1983 when he was selected the Chief of Police for Crystal City, Missouri. He held that position until 1993 when he was elected the Sheriff of Jefferson County, a position he has held since that date.
During his law enforcement career, Sheriff Boyer has received numerous awards and accreditations including the Gateway Crime Prevention Councils Medal of Valor, the John J. McAtee Award for Assistance to the Mentally Ill and the American Legion 2008 Law & Order Award. He was selected as the Missouri Sheriff of the Year in 1996 by the Missouri Deputies Association. In 2005, he led the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office to a CALEA International Accreditation. He is a graduate the FBI National Academy and of the Law Enforcement Executive Development Course.
Sheriff Boyer is a member or involved with the VFW Post 3777, American Legion Post 253, International Association of Chiefs of Police, National Sheriff’s Association and the National Academy Association. He is a past President of the Missouri Sheriff’s Association and is currently serving on the Presidential Commission for Public Safety Officer’s Medal of Valor and the Crusade Against Crime Medal of Valor Board. Sheriff Boyer is also a member of the Sacred Heart Church in Crystal City.
Sheriff Boyer is a veteran of the Vietnam conflict, served in the United States Army as a Military Policemen and the United States Air Force as a Military Intelligence Specialist. He is retired from the United States Air Force after 23 years of service.
Sheriff Boyer has been married to his wife, Sue Ellen, for 40 years. He has three children and three grandchildren and resides in Jefferson County with his family.
