Mayor Lowery Honored as Life Member of the
Vietnam Veterans of America
Mayor Robert G. Lowery Sr. recently received an honorary Life Membership to the Florissant Valley Chapter of the Vietnam Veterans of America from Frank Demos, chapter president of the association.The award commends Lowery for the City of Florissant's support to the organization, and being instrumental in being chosen as a host city to display the Traveling Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall. The wall will be erected on the grounds of the James J. Eagan Center near the Rose Garden and will be open for viewing 24-hours a day from July 30 through August 5, 2003.
Ron Veach, Director of Parks and Recreation, and a large number of Vietnam Veterans participated in the ceremony honoring the mayor, who stated, "We anticipate 10,000 attendees during the time the Wall will be in Florissant, and many of the attendees plan a leisurely visit to the Old Town Florissant area!".
