Florissant Named Tree City USA
Mayor Robert Lowery, Sr. was proud to announce that the City of Florissant has once again been named a Tree City USA community by the National Arbor Day Foundation to honor its commitment to community forestry. The Mayor stated that this is the eighteenth year Florissant has received this national recognition.
The Tree City USA program is sponsored by The National Arbor Day Foundation in cooperation with the National Association of State Foresters and the USDA Forest Service.
Florissant has met the four standards to become a Tree City USA community: a tree board or department, a tree care ordinance, a comprehensive community forestry program, and an Arbor Day observance, which the City of Florissant will have on Wednesday, April 18 th, 2007 at 9:30 a.m. at Florissant Valley Park – across from the James J. Eagan Center, near the jet plane.
