Lowery calls meetings of Florissant Citizens
concerning Trash Hauling
September 4, 2008
It was announced today by Beth Goldstein, the Mayor’s Executive Assistant that Mayor Lowery is calling for two meetings to review the information from the recent single trash hauler bids.
The first of the two meetings will be held on Wednesday, October 1st at the James J. Eagan Center on Parker at 7pm in the Gym. The second meeting will be the following Wednesday, October 8th at the John F. Kennedy Center at Koch Park at 7pm as well.
The Mayor has been working with the Health Department and the City received 5 bids for a single trash hauler. The obvious low bidder will be announced at these meetings. The Mayor, according to Mrs. Goldstein, said that he was pleased with the bids and feels that this will be a great benefit to the citizens requiring them to pay less for trash service. The base bid includes 1 time a week trash pickup, 1 time a week recycle pick up and 2 times a year bulky trash pickup.
It is especially important for the people to understand that we had to find a way to make it convenient for people to recycle. The County made recycling mandatory and the Mayor supports that effort so the best option for the City of Florissant is to go to a single trash hauler. There will also be a 50% discount for seniors that the Mayor sincerely believes will be embraced enthusiastically.
In closing Mrs. Goldstein said that the Mayor is always looking out for the people of the City of Florissant as is the City Council.
