" Lowery Announces Major Street Improvement"
Mayor Robert G. Lowery, Sr. announced today that the City of Florissant will receive major street improvements, in conjunction with St. Louis County Highways and Traffic. The area of New Florissant Road, North from Washington to North Highway 67 will receive removal and replacement of deteriorated and/or damaged pavement and joints, paved approaches, curbs, curb and gutter, and sidewalks; repair and adjustment of inlets and manholes; pavement surfacing and texturing; asphaltic concrete overlay; installation of traffic signal loop detectors; sodding; and other incidental work.
Mayor Lowery expressed his thanks to St. Louis County Government for this project. The City of Florissant takes great pride in the condition of its streets and this work will make the daily travel of the 20,000 automobiles that use this section of the City daily more enjoyable. This project is estimated to begin in mid-March 2006 and be complete before the end of the year. The Mayor stressed that there will be traffic delays and inconvenience experienced, but the end result will be a major improvement and add to the value of the adjacent properties and the City as a whole.
