St. Edward Lane Bridge to Re-Open May 16, 2007

Mayor Robert G. Lowery, Sr. announced that the City of Florissant will re-open the St. Edward Lane Bridge to traffic. A ribbon cutting ceremony is scheduled for May 16, 2007 at 2:00 p.m. The St. Edward Lane Bridge has been closed the last six months to traffic due to construction of an entire new bridge, new fencing up to adjacent properties, along with new sections of roadway leading up to the bridge . Mayor Lowery has worked hard with representatives of the East-West Gateway Council of Governments along with Governor Matt Blunt to continuously bring more federally reimbursed projects into the City of Florissant every year, the St. Edward Lane Bridge being one of those projects. Lowery stated “By completing this bridge project under schedule and within budget helps the City by showing a continuous good track record in order to obtain more federal reimbursement money for future projects.”

The City consulted with Burns & McDonnell Engineering Company for the design of the St. Edward Lane Bridge and R.V. Wagner was the contractor awarded to build the bridge. The cost of both design and construction totaled approximately $550,000.00 in which the City will be reimbursed 80% or $440,000.00.

The Public Works Department is responsible for assuring the quality of this project through design and construction. If you have any particular questions regarding this information please contact Scott J. Smith at 314.839.7643.
