“ Mayor Lowery Announces Approval of the Lindbergh Boulevard Corridor Enhancement Project Phase II”
Mayor Robert G. Lowery, Sr. announced that the City of Florissant will receive federal reimbursement money for the North Lindbergh Boulevard/North Highway 67 Corridor Enhancement Project - Phase II. Mayor Lowery has worked hard with representatives of the East-West Gateway Council of Governments along with Governor Matt Blunt to continuously bring more federally reimbursed projects into the City of Florissant every year. Lowery stated “We will be completing a bridge that is currently under construction and starting the design of another enhancement project this year utilizing federal money.”
Phase II of the enhancement project will extend from Charbonier/Washington Street, where Phase I was completed, through Lindsay Lane and Patterson Road up to the bridge at Coldwater Creek. This enhancement project will supplement an earlier approved Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) intersection improvement project for the above referenced intersections. Scott J. Smith, City Engineer, said “the linking of these two much needed projects could not have happened with out the diligent efforts for Mayor Lowery.” The two projects overlap in many aspects in which it would cost less to perform both projects at one time as opposed to coming back at a later date to retrofit one with the other.
The Public Works Department will be responsible for assuring the quality of this upcoming project through design and construction. The City will benefit from an estimated cost totaling over $3.8 million including design and construction for both projects.
