Homestead Preservation Tax Credit
The City of Florissant encourages eligible homeowners to apply for the Homestead Preservation Tax Credit before the Oct. 15th deadline so they can get back some of the tax money they paid in real estate property taxes last year. To be eligible, a person:
- Must have a federal adjusted gross income of $77,323 or less (and if married, the combined income may not exceed $77, 323)
- Must be, if single, age 65 or older or be 100 percent disabled; or
- Must have, if married, one spouse age 65 or older with the other spouse 60 or older, or one spouse must be 100 percent disabled
- This year’s application will be based on the 2006-2007 increase of 5 percent or greater – most homeowners in Florissant had more than a 5% increase.
Forms and information on the “Homestead Preservation Tax Credit” are available in the Senior Office at Florissant City Hall.
