Mayor Lowery Honored For His Leadership
By East-West GatewayLes Sterman, Executive Director of the East-West Gateway Council of Governments, announced recently that Mayor Robert G. Lowery, Sr. would be honored by their organization at East-West Gateway’s 41 st Annual Meeting on November 17 th. Mayor Lowery is the recipient of their 2006 Outstanding Local Government Achievement Award.
Mayor Lowery expressed gratitude for the award and his nomination. “I am humbled to be receiving this wonderful recognition from my peers in local government. It is always gratifying to know that your efforts have come to the attention of others, but the recognition and honor belong to the entire City,” explained Lowery.
This award recognizes the Mayor’s leadership efforts, commitment to excellence, and his work assisting the citizens of Florissant and the entire St. Louis region according to a statement issued by Les Sterman. Mayor Francis Slay, Chairman of the East-West Gateway Council of Governments will help host the awards luncheon, along with Mayors, County Executives and elected public officials from throughout the region. The event is being held at the Millennium Hotel in Downtown St. Louis.
“This recognition will help us continue to get the message out that the City of Florissant is a great place to live, shop and work. One thing people are looking for in a community is good stable local government that gets results. Thanks to the team I’ve assembled, our City employees, City Council, civic, religious and community leaders, Florissant continues to lead the region and set the pace when it comes to providing a great quality of life for all our residents,” added Mayor Lowery.
