"Florissant's Mayor Lowery Attends Energy Forum"

Mayor Robert G. Lowery, Sr. of the City of Florissant attended the Energy Forum this past February at the Omega Center in St. Louis City which was sponsored by Senators Maida Coleman and Rita Heard Days and Representatives Amber Boykins, Ester Haywood, Juanita Head Walton, and Robin Wright-Jones.

Mayor Lowery took it upon himself to investigate the telephone calls that have been flooding his office from constituents relating to excessive utility bills received this past winter. Mayor Lowery would like to extend his heartfelt compassion to those people who are suffering from the aftermath of these high utility bills. Concluding an in depth investigation Mayor Lowery would like to pass on the following information in order to help people not only in the City of Florissant but in all of North County and the metropolitan St. Louis City area find solutions to their concerns.

With regards to Laclede Gas Company bills an Extended Payment Date Program is offered. If you or your spouse is receiving Social Security benefits, you can enroll in this program. Also Elderly and Disabled Assistance Programs along with Medical Emergencies Programs are offered to assist people in jeopardy of being disconnected. Budget Billing, and Credit Arrangement Programs are also available. AmerenUE offers an Energy Assistance Guide which provides residential customers in St. Louis City and County with information about Missouri’s Cold Weather Rule. For more information regarding the Cold Weather Rule please call AmerenUE (Monday through Friday 7:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.) at 314-342-1111.

Mayor Lowery asks if you have a complaint about a bill or service you should first try to solve the problem with the utility company involved. If that fails, you have the right to file an informal complaint with the Missouri Public Service Commission.
