PROCEDURE FOR FILING FOR NOMINATION FOR CITY COUNCIL WARDS 2,4,6 & 8 OF THE CITY OF FLORISSANT FOR THE ELECTION TO BE HELD ON TUESDAY, APRIL 8, 2008.
January 9, 2008

Candidates may obtain the necessary forms from the City Clerk on or after January 9, 2008 at the Florissant City Hall, 955 rue St. Francois, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Monday thru Friday.

Candidates must be a registered voter of the City and shall have been a resident of the ward  for at least one (1) years immediately prior to the date of the election.

City Council candidates must obtain 200 signatures of registered voters in the Ward where the petition is being filed. 

The Petitions and Affidavit must be returned to the City Clerk no earlier than January 9, 2008 and no later than 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 23, 2008.  The Affidavit that accompanies the Petitions must be signed by the Candidate for City Council and notarized.  The Affidavit will be signed and the time and date recorded by the City Clerk.  The Petitions must be signed by the candidate obtaining the signatures, but need not be notarized.

The City Clerk, upon being informed by the Board of Election Commissioners of the County of St. Louis that the nominating petitions filed by a candidate is sufficient or not sufficient, shall notify the candidate immediately upon receipt of the same.  If a petition is found insufficient the City Clerk shall return it to the person filing it with a statement certifying wherein the petition is insufficient.  Within the regular filing time for filing petitions, new or supplemental petitions may be filed for the same candidate.

Names will appear on the ballot in the order of filing.

NOTE:  The City Clerk is not a notary and cannot accept the Affidavit unless it has been notarized.
