Citizens Be Aware of Vehicle Warranty Scam
January 29, 2010
Mayor Robert G. Lowery, Sr. of Florissant announced today that the citizens need to be aware that the Missouri Attorney General’s office is filing legislation against the Auto Warranty Companies that are trying to sell auto polices in the metropolitan area by mail. Mayor Robert G. Lowery, Sr and Chief William Karabas attended a St. Louis County Municipal League meeting last night and this was discussed. People receiving mailers asking them to sign and send a check for payment to one of these companies so their automobile will be covered for repairs and damages should not sign up for this. In reading the fine print it is clear that they can use and do all means possible to not make any payments to the insured. It is clear Mayor Robert G. Lowery, Sr said that this is a scam. These are made to target the elderly and misfortunate individuals. However they are mailing them to everyone not just these two groups of individuals.
Be aware and check with the Missouri Attorney General’s office or please feel free to contact my office at 314-839-7601 if you have any questions on this mailer. We don’t want you to fall prey on this. We recommend you go to a reputable auto repair shop. There are many in the City of Florissant that has good rates and customer service. Another means of getting information on auto repair companies is to contact your insurance company.
