A 9-11 Remembrance Ceremony to be held in Florissant on September 12, 2010 at the James J. Eagan Center.

Don Voss who is the Chairman for the Florissant Veterans Commission announced today that the City of Florissant along with the Florissant Veteran’s Commission will be hosting the 3rd annual 9-11 Remembrance Ceremony on Sunday, September 12, 2010 at the James J. Eagan Center at 12:00 p.m.

This ceremony is to honor all those that perished in the attack on September 11, 2001.

The event is open to the public with light refreshments available.  We are asking everyone to be in attendance.

Ms. Keecee Johns will be performing the national anthem, patriotic music that was given by Ron Andrews, “the Singing Barber”, will be played as well.  Pastor Ron Brooks from the Florissant Valley Baptist Church will perform the invocation.  Also on hand will be the color guard from the Florissant Police Department and members from the Florissant Valley Fire Protection District will be in attendance and will be raising their large American flag in dedication to the men and women that lost their lives that day.

This year’s guest speaker will be Dr. Steve Price, who is the superintendent for the Hazelwood School District.
 
The “Rocking Chair Rascals” will be performing live beginning one-half hour prior to, and one-half hour after, the completion of the ceremony.

“We would like everyone to come out to the ceremony and pay their respects to all those that lost their lives on that terrible day that America will never forget,” says Mayor Robert Lowery, Sr.  He also states, “The citizens of Florissant are the most patriotic people I have ever known, so I am asking for all you to come out and support this event.  The program should only be about an hour long.”
